It is no longer necessary to lift the lever handle to engage the lock, making it suitable for the aged/infirm.  The extra clockwise turn of the key locks off the lever handle(s) when the premises are empty.

According to the Police, it is not uncommon for doors to be closed on just the latch due to difficulties lifting handles, a fact well known to burglars - the AV2 prevents this

When used on an entrance door, access can be by using the cylinder only with the key withdrawing all the bolts and hooks.  For all other external doors where normal in/out access is required we recommend using lever handles on both sides of the door.

We recommend using a Mul-T-Lock Interactive cylinder (not supplied) with this lock.
